WebGL (or the Web Graphics Library, how is it also known) is a JavaScript API that is used to natively render 3D graphics within any supported web browser without the need for any plugins. Google Chrome is among the list of web browsers that support WebGL. Unfortunately, despite this, the ability to enable or disable WebGL is not yet part of the normal Google Chrome settings interface, so most Google Chrome users have no idea how they can enable or disable WebGL in their browser. . Instead, the option to enable or disable WebGL in the Google Chrome search engine is in the Experiments interface of the browser, that most users don't even know exists.
WebGL is an extremely useful tool and can be quite effective in boosting the quality of the average user's Google Chrome adventures on the World Wide Web.. Being that the case, making sure that WebGL is enabled in your Google Chrome installation is a very good idea.
Activating WebGL in Chrome:
-
Inicie Google Chrome.
-
Escribe chrome: // flags / in the URL field and hit Enter. If it does, will take you to the experiments.
-
Scroll down the Experiments listing and look for the Experiment titled Disable WebGL. When this specific option is enabled, prevents web applications from accessing the WebGL API, while web applications have full and unrestricted access to the WebGL API while this option is disabled. Because, if this option is enabled, all you need to do to enable WebGL is disable it by clicking Disable.
Note: If the Disable WebGL option is already disabled (you will know because there will be an Enable button below the option instead of a Disable button), WebGL is already enabled on your instance.
-
Once this is done, click Restart now to restart Google Chrome and the changes you made take effect. When Google Chrome starts, WebGL will be enabled and web applications will be able to successfully enter the WebGL API.
Note: You may see the message WebGL is not supported in some cases or display the error “WebGL Hit a Snag” after enabling it in chrome.
