The error code 004 in League of Legends it can happen for different reasons, as it is related to the update or patch of the game. Here are some of them:

The game does not have administrator privileges and the computer does not allow you to patch.

There is not enough space on your hard drive. The patch always requires a little extra space so you can download the code and then deploy it.

Solution 1: start the game as administrator
Before trying something technical, you should try to start the game as administrator. Do it even if you are logged in as an administrator. Windows has tightened the leash on what third-party apps with limited permissions can do. Therefore, in some cases, the patch fails just because you don't have admin privileges.

Solution 2: check hard drive space
Another important reason why the patch could fail is because there is not much space on the hard drive where the application is installed. This is common because most of the users install the game on their local C disk and since it is already stuck, there may be a shortage of space.

Solution 5: use Hextech repair tool

If all these solutions don't work, you can run Hextech Repair Tool as in the Solution 5 and reinstall the game. You can also try downloading a fresh copy and, after deleting the existing one from your computer, install it.
