Contents

Microsoft Word is undoubtedly the best word processing program for desktop computers.. Among the many features that Microsoft Word offers its users is the ability to add graphics, as shapes, text boxes, WordArt and images, to text documents. At the same time, Microsoft Word users can not only add graphic items to their text documents, they can also format graphic items in a wide variety of different ways. From the location and size to the design in connection with the text and even the position, Microsoft Word users have an impressive degree of control over the images they add to their text documents.

One of the most important things that Word users can control when it comes to images in Word documents is position: a Word user can rotate an image in a Word document at any desired angle until it sits in the desired position. The same happens with other graphic items in Word documents (WordArt, as an example), and the procedure for rotating other graphic items is almost identical to the procedure for rotating images in Word. Whether you want to rotate an image in a Word document 90 °, flip the image horizontally to create a mirror of it, or flip the image vertically to invert it, Word makes all of this doable.

At the same time, the icing on the cake that rotates images in word is the fact that rotating an image in word is not rocket science and is actually quite simple. The procedure is also simply the same in all versions of Microsoft Word. Despite this, there are a few different ways a Word user can rotate an image in a Word document, and the following are the best:

Rotate an image 90 ° in any direction

The simplest rotation that can be performed on an image in Word is a rotation of 90 ° in any direction. To rotate an image in Word 90 ° in any direction, needs to:

  1. Click on the image you want to rotate to select it.

  2. Navigate to the Format tab on the Microsoft Word toolbar.

  3. In the Organize section, click the Rotate button.

  4. In the resulting menu, click Rotate Right 90 ° or Rotate left 90 ° depending on the direction you want to rotate the image. 2018-03-12_100633-3836346

As soon as i do, the selected rotation will be applied to the selected image.

Flip an image horizontally or vertically

Another way to rotate an image in Microsoft Word is to flip it vertically, inverting or flipping it horizontally, creating a mirror image of the respective image. To flip an image vertically or horizontally in a Word document, this is what to do:

  1. Click on the image you want to rotate to select it.

  2. Navigate to the Format tab on the Microsoft Word toolbar.

  3. In the Organize section, click the Rotate button.

  4. If you want to flip the image horizontally and create a mirror image of it, click Flip horizontally in the resulting menu. On the other hand, if you want to flip the image vertically to invert it, click Flip Vertically in the resulting menu. 2018-03-12_100557-3436497

Once i do, the image in question will be flipped immediately in the selected manner.

Rotate an image to any angle of your choice

If the angle you want to rotate an image does not exist as a preset for image rotation in Microsoft Word, do not worry, you can manually rotate any image to the angle of your choice. At the same time, doing it is quite simple. To rotate an image to an angle of your choice, you just need:

  1. Click on the image you want to rotate to select it.

  2. Left click on the rotation handle that appears at the top of the image once you select it.

  3. With the click still pressed, drag the mouse to simply rotate the object in any direction you want to the desired angle. 2018-03-12_100529-8515641

Note: If you want the object to move in increments of 15 ° instead of moving freely when you rotate it using its rotation handle, just press and hold the Shift key while moving the object using its rotation handle.
