Vortex mod manager is a massive open source mod manager that allows you to download, install and manage different mods for your games with an easy to use interface. It supports quite a few games and is available for download on Windows 7, 8 and 10 along with support for Windows XP as well.
What is Vortex Mod Manager?
Mod vortex manager is the latest administrator of Nexus Mods. This new manager is an update of your old manager called Nexus Mod Manager that became quite famous among developers.
This mod manager does it all, from downloading and installing mods to managing game mods and keeping them in one place. Supports various games, with an easy to use user interface and tight integration with nexus mods allowing you to find, download and install mods with ease. Then let's get started
Vortex download and installation

To start with the vortex, go to website www.nexusmods.com and register or log into an existing account. They offer free and premium memberships. After registration, login and download vortex mod manager.
This app can work for all kinds of mods, the downloaded nexus mods (recommended) and those downloaded from other sources. Although due to its close integration, works best with nexus mods.
Interface
The vortex interface is pretty straightforward. But before continuing, we must enter the Vortex desktop application. The easiest way to do this is to first log into the default browser and then log into Vortex.
The vortex It offers you an interactive interface that provides you with quick link buttons on its main screen, and all the panels you see can be easily arranged the way you want.
Changing paths
Before you start installing mods, we need our mod manager to manage our games by changing the paths of the games and mods. Some mods can only be implemented if the game and mods share the same unit.
Once you have set the mods directory to the same drive as your games, you should see the Hard Link Implementation option, make sure it's selected.

Go to Settings> Vortex. Here you will see the option to configure multi-user mode which gives you the option of Per User or Shared. As the name suggests, Per User will give each user account on the computer its modification and configuration preferences while in shared mode, preferences remain the same for all users.

As the game that we are going to modify for this tutorial is Skyrim Special Edition, we have to change the base path to the same drive as our game.

After configuring the base path, you will notice that the download path and the install path use the same directory as the base path.

Once you have configured the directory correctly, you should see the Hard Link Implementation option. Make sure it's selected.
Installing the Mods

First, we have to configure the vortex to handle Nexus Links. You can easily do it by clicking the blue button or going to Setting> Descargar and check the driver to download with the administrator.

For this tutorial, we are adding a new map style to Skyrim Special Edition called Classic with All Roads. Go to the following link
Skyrim Special Edition Mods
This will land on the World Quality Map page. In the tab »File«, download the mod map.
For now, we will learn how to download directly with Mod Manager. Clicking on Mod Manager Download should open the Vortex even if it is closed and begin the download.
Once the download is complete, a notification will appear asking you to install the mod. Press install.
Now you need to enable your modifications. You can do this by clicking enable in the immediate popup. after installation or just by going to the MODS tab and clicking the gray button from your newly installed mod which should turn green. You can also check your modifications by going to the Plugin tab.

Now open your game and you should see the changes visible.
Mods manual download

To manually add and install mods, go to the same link. This time we are going to download a new mod map called Paper. Click Manual Download.

Once downloaded, open the vortex. Navigate to MODS. In the top menu, select Install from file.
You can also drag and drop the file directly into Vortex. Which is a bit faster than browsing everything.
Once you add your file, will appear as Never installed. Before install it, you must deactivate your previous modifications by clicking the green activation button.
Again, you can check the installed mods just by launching the game and see if it has modified the item it was supposed to.
Delete a mod
If you want to remove a mod that you no longer use, just press the button Remove , which will give you the option to remove the mod and its. Check both then click delete.
