League of Legends slow download issue occurs when there are network issues, LOL servers on the backend or when another third party app is blocking the download process.
League of Legends
This slow download speed can also occur due to administrative rights enforcement, security software problems, problems with the .net framework 3.5 and incorrect network settings.
But before moving on to the solutions, make sure this low speed issue only occurs with League of Legends and not internet speed. You can check it by downloading any other content. And if the download speed of other programs is also slow, first you have to troubleshoot your internet connection.
To solve slow LOL download, try the following solutions that we have found and tested on our workstations, although there may also be other solutions that are not listed here.
Solution 1: adjust League of Legends launcher.
Sometimes, LOL Launcher needs administrator rights to access certain files and services, but it runs without administrator rights, then user may face the problem of slow LOL download. To get over this, in this solution, we will run the launcher with administrator rights, what can solve the problem.

Solution 2: turn off Windows Firewall
Sometimes, antivirus and system firewall interfere with online gaming activities. They are supposed to protect your computer from malware, but sometimes they can give false positives when blocking legitimate apps like League of Legends. And as a result, League of Legends does not access files and services on some systems, which reduces the download speed of the game. Therefore, if you disable the antivirus and disable the firewall, you can solve the problem of the “slow download of League of Legends”.
After disabling the antivirus, open the game League of Legends to see if the download speed has improved. If the game works without problems, add game folder to antivirus settings exception list.
If that is not the case, disable system firewall. If there is a third-party firewall installed, disable it. For Windows Firewall, follow the steps below.
-
Press the Windows button, Type »Windows Firewall» in the search box and then press »Enter» to open the »Windows Defender Firewall».
Open Windows Firewall
-
In the left panel, click on »Enable or disable Windows Defender Firewall».
Enable or disable Windows Defender Firewall
-
Click »Disable Windows Defender Firewall (not recommended)" for the 3 network types, namely, Domain, Private and Public. Then click OK.
Disable Windows Defender Firewall on network type
-
Now start the game LOL to check if the download speed has improved.
If the download speed has increased after disabling the antivirus and firewall, add exception for game in antivirus and firewall settings.
Nevertheless, if it does not improve the download speed, go to the next solution. But before continuing, note that it is okay to re-enable your antivirus software at this stage; but we recommend keeping it disabled for the rest of the troubleshooting process.
Solution 3: reset network settings
League of Legends patch works with default TCP settings / Network IP. VPN
