The Netgear WN3000RP is one of the best selling and used range extenders by Netgear. We also have a list of the best wifi extenders of this year here, if you already have the WN3000RP, follow the next steps.

There are two methods to configure this extender.

Method 1. Connecting with the WPS button (Quick and easy) takes between 1 Y 2 minutes.

Method 2. Connect using the browser's setup guide; it will take you some 10 minutes.

Method 1: Connect using the WPS button

In the figure above, take a close look at the highlighted WPS button ID.

Now that you have identified where the WPS button is on the extender, the next step is to identify the WPS button on your router. This button is usually indicated by arrows or a padlock symbol. If you can't find it, you can ask me in the comments below mentioning the model number of your router OR consulting your router manual.

Then, now you know where the WPS button is on the router and extender. Plug the extender into a power outlet and turn it on.

Place the extender within range of the router to be connected or an equal distance between the router and the wireless device that is out of range of the router. You can place it later, once connected, since the configuration will be saved.

1. Now press the WPS button on the extender (as shown in the figure above).

2. On 2 minutes, press the WPS button on your wireless router, gateway or access point.

3. The wireless device should now be connected. Check if the new network appears on your computer.

The name of the new wireless network issued by the extender will carry the network name of your original router with an _EXT at the end.

The network key to connect to the extender will be the same as your original router.

Method 2: connect using web settings

To continue with the Web Configuration Guide, you will need to know your current router password, since you will need it to connect the extender to your router.

If you don't know what the password is, you can try to reset mobile phone password.

Now, since you know what the password is. We can continue with the configuration.

  1. Plug the extender into the power outlet and turn it on.

  2. Wait a minute for the extender to turn on by itself. After a minute, conéctese a Netgear_EXT. 2-21-2821443Clicking on the option “Net Gear”

  3. Once the extender connects to your PC, the PC to Extender LED will turn green.

  4. Now, to connect the extender to your router, open your web browser and go to www.mywifiext.net.

  5. You will now see the NETGEAR Genie site with a setup wizard.

  6. You will be guided through the web guide to select the Wi-Fi network you want the extender to connect to.

    – Select your network and provide your password.

    – Continue with on-screen instructions to finish setup.

  7. Your extender should now be connected to the router.

If you fail or make a mistake in a step, you can reset your extender to factory defaults to start over.

To perform a factory reset, press and hold the factory reset button with a paper clip / pin deployed during 10 seconds.
