▷ Solution: HDMI no signal

Over time, more and more companies adopt the concept of HDMI connection. What i don't like? Easily connects and streams video and sound with the ability to support large resolutions. It has versatility and has become more or less the main means of connection between electronic devices.

With more electronic devices adopting this concept, users will surely run into problems where they will not be able to connect to the monitor, TV, etc. and they will face the message “No signal” on their screens. Do not worry, you can activate the connection between your electronic devices in no time. In most cases, the problem is only with software setting or port setting.

Solution 1: check input source

Before proceeding to verify cables and system configuration, It is recommended that you check the input source on the monitor or TV. Display electronics do not have a single input source. They have the compatibility to be used by several different inputs such as VGA, HDMI, Display Port, etc.

Make sure you have correctly plugged the cable into the correct ports and change the input source of your monitor / TV from VGA to HDMI. Apply all changes and exit configuration. If this was successful, you can see the change instantly.

Note: many televisions and monitors have this input source button hidden on the sides. Look in the user manual, physically check or search the internet for your model to determine where these buttons are. You may also have an input switch button on the remote if you are using a TV.

Solution 2: check connections and projections

If the correct input source is selected, we can check if the connections are connected within the correct port on both the output device and the input device. What's more, you should also check if the correct projections are set on your computer.

1. Press Windows + P and select the correct projection you are trying to get. You can choose to Duplicate or Extend to use your second screen correctly.

1. Now check if the correct cable is connected to the correct HDMI port. As you can see in the picture, HDMI port is similar to USB connection. Make sure the cables are properly inserted into both modules in the correct ports and that the solution 1 be valid.

Solution 3: Monitor Power Cycle / TV

Power cycling is an act of turning off an electronic device completely and then turning it back on. Reasons for powering off and on include having an electronic device reset its set of configuration parameters or recover from an unresponsive state or module. It is also used to reset all network settings or other system settings, since all are lost when the electronic device is completely turned off.

1. Disconnect all HDMI sources from the inputs.

2. Now unplug the monitor / TV from your main power source and wait at least 10 minutes.

1. Now reconnect the monitor / TV and connect all HDMI cables at once.

2. Turn on the input device (can be PS4, Xbox, computer, laptop, etc.).

3. Now repeat the steps 3-4 for each HDMI device and check if the input is received correctly.

Note: You can also try the following routine if the normal ignition cycle does not work:

• Turn on the monitor / TV and Blu-ray player (or whatever device you are using).

• Make sure all modules are powered on and the TV / monitor is configured to receive signals through HDMI source.

• Disconnect both devices from the power source or turn off the plug. We are trying to turn them off at the same time.

• Re-ignite your energy and magic will happen (if you are lucky).

You can also try removing the power cord, press and hold the power button for 2 minutes, plug in the power cord and turn it on again.

Solution 4: Check the hardware

If all the steps above don't seem to work, time to check your hardware. The HDMI cable you are using may not work or may be damaged. What's more, it is also possible that the monitor / TV you are using does not work or vice versa. We need to do some checks before moving on to the other solutions.

• Replace your HDMI cable. Before buying a new one, try connecting the old one to another system and see if it works. If it does not work, it probably means the cable is bad. Replace the cable and try again.

• Try a different input source for your monitor or TV. If you are using a laptop as an input source, try connecting with another laptop and see if it makes a difference. If the signal from the other laptop is detected, It means there is a wrong setting on the computer or the HDMI port is not working.

• You can also test isolating the problem and see if the monitor / TV works properly with other inputs.

• If you are using an HDMI to VGA converter, this may be bad news. To confirm that the HDMI module in both input and output is working properly, use a pure HDMI cable and check.

Solution 5: to update / downgrade drivers

This solution is specific for inputs that are provided by a computer or laptops (no Xbox o PS4, etc.). If you have this problem after updating your graphics drivers, you can try reverting to a previous version. What's more, on the other hand, you can try to update them to the latest version.

1. Press Windows + R, type »devmgmt. msc »in the dialog box and press Enter.

2. Once in device manager, expand display adapters and click »Update driver«.

1. You now have two options; or you can choose to automatically update or download from manufacturer first and then select the driver file manually using the second method. If you are downgrading the drivers, download the older version and select the second option to browse for the driver you just downloaded.

1. Restart your computer after making the necessary changes and check if the problem has been resolved.

In addition to these solutions, you can also try:

• Reset your TV / factory monitor.

• Checking your computer's power supply. Sometimes everything works as expected, but due to the low input power of the graphics card, this phenomenon can occur.

• Check if your GPU is properly connected to your computer.
