They often develop driver problems and, Thus, require users to download proprietary closed source drivers. Sometimes, this may not solve the problem. However, PC owners working with a properly configured Linux environment have other options.

Alternative viewers are often used to access these worlds rather than the originals.. One of the most popular alternative scopes is Phoenix Firestorm, which fortunately is not very difficult to configure. Installing Phoenix Firestorm Viewer on Linux

Get started by downloading the appropriate version of Firestorm Viewer for your Linux distribution at http://www.firestormviewer.org/linux/ and then navigate to the directory where it was downloaded. You can start a graphics file manager by holding down the Super or Windows key and pressing E. Your distribution may also require you to use the Gnome application menu, Unity, KDE or Xfce to start the administrator.

Right click on the file and select “Extract here” in the context menu. You may have a slightly different file extraction technique depending on your distribution. Removal should only take a few minutes.

Once the file extraction dialog box disappears, select the folder that came out of the file. You will have to enter it by double clicking on it.

Select a file called install.sh which is inside the folder. You will have to right click on it and then select run the script. The file must have preserved file permissions to allow you to run it. However, if you need to change them, you can select the properties and then choose to run the script.

If this seems to do nothing, double-click the file and select “Run in Terminal” in the box that appears. Some desktop environments cannot tell if a script should run in a terminal window.

A terminal window will appear asking if it's okay to continue. If you are not operating as root, type Y and hit enter to continue. If you are the superuser, will install it for all users, what may not be desirable.

Once the installation process is complete, you can start Firestorm Viewer from the Applications menu.

You will need to enter the username and password of your preferred gaming environment, after which it will select the environment itself. before continuing, go to the Viewer menu and select the Preferences function.

Select the Graphics tab and then slide the performance slider to a point where you do not experience interruptions. You should now be able to login as usual.
