  • An internal error stopping the download: there are some chances that a bug in uTorrent is responsible for this behavior. Some users fixed the problem when they tried to reset the download location through the uTorrent client.

Method 1: Grant administrative privileges to uTorrent

For a request to work correctly in Windows, administrative privileges must be granted. The same goes for UTorrent. In most cases, the error of “access denied” it is because uTorrent does not have the necessary privileges. To solve this problem, you can run it as administrator, but then you will have to run it as administrator every time you start it. To run permanently as administrator, before continuing, make sure you have configured your account as administrator.

  2. Once it appears in the search, right click on it and open its file location by clicking Open file location. This will take you to the uTorrent shortcuts folder.

  3. Right-click the uTorrent shortcut and click Open File Location again.

  4. Now, once you are in the root directory of uTorrent, right click on the uTorrent.exe file and click on Properties.

Method 2: uncheck the read-only property of the download folder

If the first method didn't work for you, then the error could be because the folder you are downloading the torrent into has its read-only property checked. You will have to create a new folder and uncheck its read-only property to get rid of this error.

  2. Once the folder is created, rename it according to your needs, right-click and then open its properties by clicking Properties.

  4. Now click Apply and then click OK. It may take a few seconds to apply the changes.

  5. Now try to download your torrent again and use this folder only as your download folder for uTorrent.

Method 3: to reset downloads folder from torrent settings

However, this method is similar to the previous one, there is an error in uTorrent that does not allow it to recognize the folder in which it has started to download, the folder is there but still gives the write error.

  1. Right click on the torrent displaying the error message: Access denied (write to disk).
