Sometimes, when trying to download a file while using Internet Explorer, you may receive the following error message: “Your current security settings do not allow the download of this file”. In most cases, Affected users see this error message when they try to download files from untrusted websites, but this error message has also been seen by users trying to download files from extremely trustworthy websites like Microsoft's official web portal, so the web portal from which you are trying to download the file in question is totally irrelevant or not.

This error simply inhibits the download of a file that you want to download, which makes for an annoying little bug. Luckily for anyone affected by this problem, it is quite simple to solve. Then, Here's how you can correct the error message »Your current security settings do not allow you to download this file» and download all the files you want in Internet Explorer, regardless of the files you want to download:

If you are using Windows XP, wear the 7, open start menu and click control panel to launch control panel. If you are using Windows 8, on the other hand, right click start menu to open WinX menu and click control panel to start it.

Look in the control panel »Internet Options» and click on the search result called Internet Options.

Navigate to the Security tab of Internet Options

Of the four zones provided at the top of the window, click internet

Once you have selected the internet zone, click on the Custom level …

Scroll down to Downloads

Find File Download in the Downloads section and enable

Click ok.

Click Apply and then OK in the Internet Options window and then exit. Restart your computer, start Internet Explorer and try to download the same file that you were trying but could not download before, and now it should be successful in downloading the file.

If the answer indicated and described previously does not solve the problem for you (a case that is quite rare), the next is another quite effective solution that you can try:

Start Internet Explorer.

Click on the Computer icon in the upper right corner (O, in older versions of Internet Explorer, on the Tools button).

Click Internet Options in the context menu.

Navigate to Advanced

On the Reset Internet Explorer Settings tab, click the Reset tab …

Make sure the Delete personal settings option is checked and then click Restart to confirm the action.

Restart your computer and once it starts, start Internet Explorer and check if the problem has been solved or not.
