If you are currently struggling with this problem, the following solutions may help. We have managed to identify some methods that have been successful for users in a similar situation to fix the problem. Follow the methods listed below in order until you find a solution that works for your situation..

Method 1: use the Ctrl shortcut + Shift + P (alternative solution)

If you are looking for a quick solution that saves you long steps, use the Ctrl shortcut + Shift + P can allow you to avoid the problem.

However, please note this should only be considered a workaround, as it does not fix the underlying issues that caused Google Print to malfunction.

If this solution is not effective or if you are looking for some measures to solve the underlying problems, continue with method below.

Method 2: remove additional printers from Google Print

Some users have been able to solve the problem without having to uninstall the browser by making sure that the printers that appear in Google Cloud Print are managed correctly.

It turns out that when Google Cloud Print has more than one active printer listed, can create issues that prevent users from printing directly from Chrome.

To solve this problem, you will need to remove any additional printers you are not using. Here is a quick guide on how to do this:

  1. Abra Google Chrome, tap the action box (Right upper corner) and click Settings.

  2. In the Settings list, scroll down and click Advanced to expand the drop down menu. Later, scroll down the Advanced list and click Google Cloud Print under Printing. & Amp; lt; br / & amp; gt;

  4. When you only have one active printer left, restart Google Chrome and see if the problem is resolved and if you can print directly from the browser. If that is not the case, go to method below.

Method 3: clear local browsing history then uninstall Chrome

Most of the users have been able to resolve the issue after uninstalling Chrome along with local browsing history. When reinstalling the latest version of Chrome available, most users have reported that they have regained the ability to print directly from Chrome.

Here is a quick guide to clear your local browsing history, uninstall Chrome and reinstall it again:

  1. Abra Google Chrome, press the settings menu and go to More tools & gt; Delete navigation data. & Amp; lt; br / & amp; gt;

  6. Open the installer and follow the onscreen instructions to install Chrome and see if you can now print directly from Chrome.

If this method didn't work, start following the other methods below.

Method 4: Regain full control of the temp folder

Some users have finally been able to resolve the issue after adjusting the temporary folder permissions (within the AppData update). Apparently, giving yourself full control of the temp folder will restore the ability to print directly from Google Chrome.

Although this is pure speculation, a WU update is believed to have changed the permissions of already installed browsers.

Note: this method seems to be effective for users who can print from Internet Explorer but cannot print from Google Chrome, Firefox and any other third-party browser.

Here is a quick guide to reclaim full control over the temp folder in order to restore printing ability in Google Chrome:

  1. Go to C: Users ~ * Your username * ~ AppData ~ Local, right click on the temp folder and choose Properties.

  2. In Temporary Properties, go to the Security tab, select the first account under Group or user names, click Edit and make sure the Allow box associated with Full Control is checked. Later, repeat the same procedure for all accounts in Group or user names.

  3. Reboot your system. As of the next reboot, should be able to print from all third party browsers, including Google Chrome.

If the method did not solve your problem, go to final method.

Method 5: repair the print coil driver

If all the above methods have failed, it is very likely that the printer coil driver or other Windows component in charge of handling a print job has been corrupted and unusable. This is definitely the culprit if you notice that your PC cannot print from anywhere else (any third party app) other than Microsoft channels.

As some users have pointed out, it is very likely that certain files located in SYSWOW64 need to be replaced, if that's the case, the best chance to fix the problem without having to reinstall the operating system is to cause a system repair.

To trigger a system repair, we will use the System File Checker, a Windows utility that checks for system file corruption and replaces corrupted files. Here's a quick guide on how to trigger a System File Checker scan to fix printing problem in Google Chrome:

  1. Access the Windows start menu (lower left corner) and search for »cmd«. Later, right click on Command Prompt and choose Run as administrator.

  2. On the elevated command line, type the following command and press Enter to start the operation:

    DISM.exe / Online / Clean picture / Restore-health

    restore-health-4740484 Note: Note that the DISM command uses WU (Windows Update) to recover files that will end up replacing the corrupt ones once. Therefore, you must make sure that your internet connection is active and stable, otherwise, the attempt will end in failure.

  3. After the DISM operation is completed, you can finally start the System File Checker tool. To do this, type the following command at the elevated command prompt and hit Enter:

    sfc /scannow

    sfcscannow-1-1124868 Note: Once the process starts, SFC utility will scan all protected system files and replace corrupted occurrences with fresh copies. It is important that you do not close the elevated command prompt window until the process is complete.

  4. Once the process is finished, close the command prompt alto and restart your computer. In the next start, check if the printing problem has been solved and you can print from third party applications.

Method 6: reset chrome to default settings
