Contents

PS4 controller has all the problems. From not being able to connect to the console to being disconnected in the middle, there have been many ups and downs in the history of the controller. One of the most annoying problems is when the PS4 controller goes into an unresponsive state and blinks white.

This phenomenon occurs quite frequently and there are simple ways to fix it. As usual, it happens when the controller battery is low or when the controller cannot connect to the console for unknown reasons. Start with the first solution and work your way accordingly.

Solution 1: reboot controller

PS4 controllers have a small reset button on the back. You need a small pin to insert into the hole and press the button. This is to ensure that no one accidentally reboots the controller. There are ordered steps you need to take to fully reset the controller so that you can connect it.

  1. Take a little pin and press the reset button on your controller for 3 seconds. Your PS4 should be on and the white light should blink when you do this.

  1. Once you have restarted the controller, completely turn off your PS4. Wait 2-3 minutes.

  2. Turn your PS4 back on and try connecting the controller to the console. Check if you can use it properly.

Solution 2: use cables micro USB

In addition to connecting the PS4 controller wirelessly, you can also use a Micro USB cable. The micro USB cable can be used to initially establish a connection, and when the connection is established, can easily go back to bluetooth. Here we will try to turn on the remote control so that if there are any wrong settings, also reboot.

  1. Turn off your PS4 device from the front of the console and put it into sleep mode.

  2. After all lights on the console have gone out, unplug the power cord from the outlet.

  3. Now press the power button on the PS4 during 30 seconds to make sure all power is depleted.

  4. Now connect the controller to the PS4 with a micro USB cable. Turn on the console and press any button. Hopefully the driver is detected and works as expected.

If the latter doesn't work with your current USB cable, you should try changing the USB cable. Nowadays, many smartphones have a micro USB cable for connection. You can try connecting them and see if it works.

Solution 3: use of a second controller

Another solution that works for many people is to use the second controller. We will use the second controller to make some configuration changes and then we will try to connect the original controller which is flashing white. If you don't have another controller, you can ask your friend because this solution won't work without him.

  1. Connect the second controller to the console correctly and make sure it works. Now use the second controller to go to Settings> Devices> Bluetooth devices. Now make sure only the working driver is present in this window.

  1. Now, in controller not working, press the Share button for about 5 seconds. What's more, press the PS button at the same time until you see the light bar blink twice every second or so.

  2. After following the two steps, now you will see both controllers (working: green light, connected; it does not work: no green light).

  3. Now, using controller running, select the non-working driver and it will try to pair with the device (It will show $ 0027 Wait $ 0027).

  4. You will be asked to connect to the new device. Press Yes and you're done.

Solution 4: press PS4 and share button

There is another solution that we can try before starting the system in safe mode. This solution came about after tests and trials were carried out by users and was shared by the entire Internet community.. Follow the steps below.

  1. Hold down the PS button and share at the same time

  1. Keep pressing both buttons until your Play Station 4 turn on.

  2. Once the PS4 is turned on, check if all controls are working and if the console responds to every command from the controller.

Solution 5: use safe mode

Safe mode is present on almost all consoles or computers to allow the user to perform advanced diagnostics and help update firmware, reset databases, etc. Since you can't use Play Station because its controller doesn't work, you can enable safe mode and try some of the following fixes listed below.

These are the steps to enter safe mode:

  1. Press the power button present on the front panel of the PS4 to turn it off. The indicator will blink a few times.

  2. After turning off your PS4, press and hold the power button and hold it until you hear two beeps. The first beep will be heard normally when you press it initially and the second beep when you continue to press it. (for about 7 seconds).

  3. Now connect the PS4 controller with a USB cable and press the Play Station button present on the controller. You are now successfully in safe mode.

  4. Once in safe mode, select the fifth option »Rebuild the database«. This option will scan your entire disk and effectively create a new content database. Please wait until the process is complete (it may take some time depending on the amount of data).

Note: This option can erase all the data and settings of your Play Station 4. Remember to save your data correctly before proceeding with this solution.

If rebuilding the database doesn't help, you can go ahead and update the system software. An update may be available for the Sony software that fixes any bugs or problems you may be experiencing.. Just select the third option after starting in safe mode.
