Recaptcha does not work in Google Chrome

Various Chrome issues have difficulty using reCAPTCHA from a Google Chrome browser. Most affected users report that the Recaptcha is displayed initially, but when user clicks on it, all Recaptcha disappears. When reloading the web page, affected users receive a message warning them that “Your computer or network may be sending automated queries”.

What is causing the problem “Recaptcha does not work in Chrome”?

We investigated this particular issue by examining various user reports and the remediation strategies affected users implemented to resolve the issue.. Based on what we have collected, there are several fairly common scenarios that will trigger this particular error message:

Chrome is not updated to the latest version: one of the most common reasons for this error is that the version of Chrome is out of date. ReCaptcha will actively search for the browser version before allowing you access. This applies to all versions of the browser, no solo a Chrome. In this case, the solution is to update Google Chrome to the latest version.
Corrupt Chrome browser profile: several affected users have reported that for them, the problem disappeared indefinitely as soon as Google Chrome was forced to create a new browser profile. This step can be done manually by renaming the existing browser profile (predetermined). See Method 2 for more details.
VPN or Proxy service does not work well with reCaptcha: as some users have pointed out, there are some VPN and Proxy services that will create this problem with reCaptcha V2 verification. In most cases, the best solution is to contact the VPN provider support / proxy or switch to another provider.
The computer's IP address is in a prohibited range: the problem can occur if you are unlucky enough to be given an IP located in a forbidden range known to the Captchas database. If you are working with a dynamic IP, a solution would be to force your ISP to give you a different IP (one that we hope is not in a forbidden range).
Malware infection: a malware infection can also be responsible for this particular problem. Browser hijackers and adware injectors can send too many processing requests to reCaptcha until the software decides to prevent their use.. In this case, the solution is to clean the system from the malware infection and reinstall Google Chrome.

If you have difficulty solving this particular problem, This article will provide you with a couple of verified troubleshooting steps. Next, you will discover a collection of methods that other users in a similar situation have used to avoid reCaptcha.

To maximize efficiency, follow the methods listed below in the order presented. Over time, you will need to find an arrangement that will take care of the matter for you.

Method 1: update Chromium to the latest version

You may run into this issue due to a bug in Google Chrome that has already been fixed. What's more, Please note that one of the most important requirements of reCaptcha V2 is to maintain a browser version. With this in mind, disable any plugins or software that blocks the update process (if you have any) and follow the instructions below:

Follow the steps below to create a new browser profile in an attempt to resolve Recaptcha not working on Chrome issue:

Close Google Chrome completely (make sure the process is not yet open inside the tray bar).
Open Windows Explorer (tecla de Windows + E) and navigate to the next location by pasting it into the navigation bar and hitting Enter:

Navigating to the browser profile location
Inside the User Data folder, right click on the Default folder and choose Rename. Next, rename it to “Default backup”. This will force the Chrome browser to create a new default folder on next startup, which will end up creating a new browser profile. Rename the default folder
Open Google Chrome to force it to create a new browser profile and navigate to a reCaptcha page to see if the problem has been resolved.

Method 3: disable VPN or proxy service

As some affected users have pointed out, reCaptcha functionality could also be hampered by a VPN solution. If you are in fact using a VPN app, disable it temporarily and see if the reCaptcha issue is removed.

If the problem no longer occurs while the VPN is disabled and you are paying for a premium service, you will need to contact your service provider and ask for instructions on how to connect properly.

The same is true if you are using a Proxy service: start by disabling it and see if the problem continues to occur. If that is not the case, find another provider or contact support.

Method 4: reset IP address

If you experience this issue with multiple browsers (no solo Google Chrome), a solution that seems to have helped many users is to reset the IP address. Please note that there are many databases (public or private) that keep track of suspicious IP addresses.

If you are unlucky enough to have an IP in a suspicious range, the reCAPTCHA message could present you with additional obstacles. In this case, force your router / modem assigning a new IP address will allow you to avoid the problem.

Since most of today's ISPs provide dynamic IP addresses, you will most likely reset your IP by simply disconnecting your internet connection and reconnecting to get a new IP address. Or you can follow the steps below to reset your IP address manually:

Press the Windows key + R to open a Run dialog. Then write “cmd” and press Ctrl + Shift + Enter to open an elevated command prompt. If requested UAC (User account control), click Yes to grant administrative privileges. Open a command prompt using the Run dialog box
At the elevated command prompt, type the following commands in order and hit Enter after each one to reset your IP address:

netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
```
Once all the commands have been processed correctly, reopen Google Chrome and check that re-Captcha works correctly.

Method 5: System scan with Malwarebytes

ReCaptcha problems are also related to malware like browser hijackers and Trojans. The most common cases are infected with files inside the Chrome folder (adware and hijackers).

In this particular case, Most affected users have reported that their problems have magically disappeared after using Malwarebytes to clean up the infection. Here's a quick guide on how to install Malwarebytes and run a scan before reinstalling a clean version of Google Chrome:
