The error code 1 from SKYUI is an error that Skyrim players encounter when they have installed and are trying to launch Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE). SKSE is used for modifying and is one of the extensive modifying programs that is not intended for the normal user.

SKSE is still in development, so users may run into the error message from time to time when a new update for Skyrim is released via Steam. This error message mainly points to two things: Either it did not install correctly or there is something wrong with the SKSE64 executable.

What causes the error code $ 0027SKYUI 1 $ 0027 when starting Skyrim via SKSE?

This error message is very generic and can happen to several different users for the simplest reasons. Some of the reasons for this error message are as follows:

• Administrator privileges: SKSE requires you to run it with administrator privileges. This is because the program modifies the existing game of Skyrim, some of the actions it performs require elevation.

• Incorrect installation: Your SKSE installation may not have been successful. Installing SKSE is a very specific task that requires you to follow each and every step. Any omission could cause the error message.

Before moving on to solutions, make sure you have a proper Skyrim installation on your computer that is updated to the latest version of Steam. What's more, you must also login as administrator on your computer.

Solution 1: Run SKSE64 as administrator

As mentioned in the causes, Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE) requires administrator access in order to install properly on your computer. What's more, it also requires elevation every time it starts up because it technically runs on top of Skyrim on Steam. To do that, requires more permissions than normal apps.

1. Right click on SKSE64 from the directory and select Properties.

2. Select the compatibility tab and check the option Run this program as administrator. Make SKSE run as administrator

1. Press Apply to save changes and exit. Now launch the application and check if the error message has disappeared.

Solution 2: install the SKSE correctly

If you have not installed SKSE correctly on your computer, this error message may appear. If SKSE is missing files or some modules, will not be able to start. Instead of giving the specific error message, returns the generic error “Error code 1 de SKYUI”. Here's how to install SKSE correctly on your computer by two methods.

Using the Modification Manager

1. Download SKSE from official website .

2. Now open the SKSE64_2_00_04 folder and keep browsing to Data. Now you will see Scripts present here. Right click and create a file. You can use any archiving software available on the Internet.

1. Now rename the created file to “SKSE64-Scripts” or something similar so that you can easily recognize it.

2. Now you just have to install the file using whatever manager you are using to modify. This method works with Vortex, MO2 o WB. and when it's time to update, just uncheck the current skse64-scripts file in favor of the new version.

Now, after you have installed the file, you will need to create a shortcut to SKSE64loader.exe and use it to start the game. MO2 users will have no problems as the charger is already recognized in it. WB users can easily copy the shortcut we have created to the Applications folder in the MOPY folder to have the SKSE binary available in WB as well.

Manual installation

If you are not using mod manager, you can easily follow this manual approach and install the SKSE on your computer. Here we will copy and paste some lines.

1. Download SKSE from official website .

2. Now extract the content to an accessible place. Now open the folder SKSE64_2_00_04 and open the second folder SKSE64_2_00_04.

1. Now, as in the picture above, highlight the following files:

skse64_1_5_3.dll
skse64_loader.exe
skse64_vapor_charger.dll

Copy these files and paste them into the SSE game folder. This folder is normally located in the following path:

X:/Steam/SteamApps/Common/Skyrim Special Edition

Here (X) is the driver where Steam is installed.

1. Now navigate to the Scripts folder present inside the SKSE64_2_00_04 folder (not the Data folder inside the Skyrim special edition). Now, when inside the Scripts folder, highlight all .PEX files and copy them.

1. Now paste them into the game scripts folder. This folder is usually in the following directory where (X) is the directory where Steam is installed.

X:/SteamApps/Common/Skyrim Special Edition/Data/scripts.

1. Now right click exe in game folder and select Send to> Desk (Direct access). You can use this to start the game.

These are two methods used to install SKSE on your Skyrim. However, we recommend that you use the first method (Using the Modification Manager) as it has a lot of stability and is less prone to problems.
