The Bluetooth peripheral device driver cannot be found in Windows

Tried to connect your mobile device with your PC and it turns out that there is no driver to find? Did you just see an error message that says “The device driver software did not install correctly”? Do not worry, people have experienced this error and it can be easily fixed. Although this error will prevent you from using your Bluetooth device, this problem is quite easy to fix.

This error is usually caused by a bug with the default Bluetooth driver responsible for facilitating this connection and the data exchange process.. It may be damaged or just out of date, or it may not be installed correctly. Then, you just have to fix that. Here are some ways to do it.

Method 1: update bluetooth driver automatically

The first thing to do when you see this error is simply update the driver. There are two ways to update the driver, one automatic and one manual. Then, these are the steps to update the driver automatically.

1. Press the Windows keys + R to open the Run dialog.

2. Then type devmgmt.msc and hit Enter or click OK.

1. This will open the device manager with a list of software / controllers.

2. Find and double click Other Devices

3. On this list, you will see several Bluetooth controllers with yellow exclamation marks next to them. You will need to update each driver. Even if there is no exclamation point, update all bluetooth drivers

To update a driver, do the following:

1. Right-click on the driver and then select Update Driver Software …

2. You will see a window with two options:

   1. Automatically check for updated drivers.

   2. Search my computer for driver software.

3. Select the option Search automatically for updated drivers and let it process.

This will automatically search for the relevant driver, will download and install it for you. Once the process is finished, check again to see if the error persists.

Note: If you can't see the Bluetooth drivers in the Other devices section, click View and select Show hidden devices. This will also show hidden drivers.

Method 2: update bluetooth driver manually

Before I can do this, you need to download the driver first. And before you can download it, you should know if you have an operating system of 32 bits o of 64 bits.

To check what operating system you have, do the following:

1. Hold down the Windows key and press E to open file explorer

2. Right click on My Computer and select Properties.

In this window, in System, System Type will be displayed. will be from 32 O 64 bits.

If you have a system 32 bits, click on here and click Download to download Microsoft Mobile Device. If your system is 64 bits, click on here and click Download to download Microsoft Mobile Device.

Once downloaded, double click the downloaded file to run the installation. Follow the instructions on the screen.

Once this is done, this is how you can update the existing faulty driver:

1. Press the Windows keys + R to open the Run dialog.

2. Then type devmgmt.msc and hit Enter or click OK.

1. This will open the device manager with a list of software / controllers.

2. Find the Other Devices option and click the plus sign to its left to expand the list.

3. In this expanded list, right-click on the Bluetooth peripheral device and select Update Driver Software.

1. This will open a window with two options:

   1. Automatically check for updated drivers.

   2. Search my computer for driver software.

2. Left click on Browse my computer for driver software.

3. In the next window, click on. Let me choose from a list of device drivers on my computer.

4. A list of drivers will appear, Find and left click on Bluetooth Radios from this list and then click Next.

1. This will open a window with two panels: Manufacturer on the left and Model on the right.

2. In the list of manufacturers, select Microsoft Corporation by clicking the left mouse button.

3. Support for Windows Mobile based devices will be displayed on the right side.

4. Left click on this model and click Next.

1. You may receive multiple warnings, keep pressing Next and finally click Finish to complete the process.

Once the process is finished, you can check if the device is installed. Just expand Bluetooth radios in device manager and look for support for Windows Mobile based devices.

Hopefully, after successful installation of this driver, your Bluetooth will be able to connect with your mobile device without any impediment.

Method 3: update bluetooth driver manually (alternative)

If the method 2 it didn't work for you, follow the methods below. There is an alternative set of drivers that are installed to solve this problem.

1. Press the Windows keys + R to open the Run dialog.

2. Then type devmgmt.msc and hit Enter or click OK.

1. This will open the device manager with a list of software / controllers.

2. Find the Other Devices option and click the plus sign to its left to expand the list.

3. In this expanded list, right-click on the Bluetooth peripheral device and select Update Driver Software.

1. This will open a window with two options:

   1. Automatically check for updated drivers.

   2. Search my computer for driver software.

2. Left click on Browse my computer for driver software.

1. In the next window, click on. Let me choose from a list of device drivers on my computer.

1. Select Ports (COM y LPT) from the newly appeared list. Click Next

1. In the list of manufacturers, select Microsoft by clicking the left mouse button.

2. Select the Standard Serial over Bluetooth link in the right column

3. Click Next .

1. You may receive multiple warnings, keep pressing Next and finally click Finish to complete the process.

Once this is done, your problem must be solved.
