Adding your Google account to your Android phone is a great way to get emails to link several different apps to your Google account.. However, many users are seeing the error “there was a communication problem with Google servers” when trying to add their Google account to their phones. Some users see this error when they click Add account from phone settings, while others see this message after entering all their Google account details. As a last resort, you will not be able to add your Google account to your phone.

What causes a communication problem with Google servers?
Here is the list of things that can cause the problem.
-
Two-step verification: two-step verification is an amazing feature that prevents other users from accessing your account. This feature is also known to prevent other devices or apps from using your account.. Therefore, this could be causing problems connecting to your account. This is also very common when adding the account to other applications like Outlook, these apps will not add your account until you add the apps from your account settings or disable two-step verification. Then, the usual solution for this is to disable 2-step verification.
-
Damaged cache: temporary files / cache is stored on the device so that applications run faster. These files can get corrupted and, Thus, make other functions / apps misbehave. This error can be caused by this very thing and the usual solution is to simply clear the application cache.
-
Hosts file: hosts files are present on your system and have imported cell phone configuration information. This problem may be due to the content of those files. Changing the contents of the Hosts file will probably solve the problem in this case.
Note
Before following the steps of the methods listed below, first try restarting the phone to see if that solves the problem or not. Sometimes there is no problem and our devices / software misbehaves for unknown reasons and a reboot fixes this type of problem.
You should also try to remove the previously added Google accounts from the account list and try again. Just go to Settings> Select Google account> Click on the 3 points> Delete account. Do this for all previously added Google accounts and add the account again.
Method 1: disable authentication of 2 steps and clear cache
Sometimes, the two-step authentication process may interfere with your Google account login or it may be the corrupted cache of the Google account manager (and other applications). Disabling the two-step verification process and clearing the cache of some apps has helped some users to solve the problem. Therefore, follow the steps below to perform all these tasks.
Note: You can also disable two-step verification from your phone's browser, but we will follow the steps for the PC browser. However, the steps must be the same for both devices.

-
Look for Google Account Manager in the list of applications. Note: on some phones, you may need to swipe right to switch tabs. If so, make sure you are on the All tab. This is because some phones classify their applications based on their status., for example, in action, SD card, etc. Therefore, Google account manager may not appear in the running apps list if it is not currently running. Therefore, you should look at the list of all apps.

Once you open the Google Account Manager, select Clear data
