A laptop that turns on with a black screen can be indicative of many things. This can happen suddenly with frozen laptop and can be difficult to diagnose. If you get beeps from your laptop (or if you have any signs that your computer is on), you can try the tips and tricks mentioned in this post that will definitely help you.

Most of the time the problem is due to the accumulation of electrical charge inside the laptop (later we will cover the methods for this in detail) but, sometimes, the reasons can be much more chronic, such as problems related to LCD screen or motherboard.

The following methods will guide you through the procedure of repairing your laptop if it turns on, but all you see is a black screen.

Method 1: Electric shock

In this method, we will completely unload the laptop and then turn it on again to see if we solve the problem:

1. Turn off the computer by pressing the power button for a long time.

2. Now remove the battery from the back of the computer. (If you don't have a removable battery, see method 2)

3. One more time, press the start button for about 60 seconds.

4. Release the button now and connect the computer to a power source.

5. Press the home button again and you should now get the screen back.

6. Turn off the computer and replace the battery.

7. Restart the computer.

8. If this doesn't work for you the first time, try to repeat all the steps mentioned above at least 4 times. If you don't get results even after trying the methods 3 Y 4, try our method 5 to diagnose what the real problem is.

If your laptop doesn't have a removable battery, you should try the following steps:

1. Press the power button to turn off the computer, but don't take your finger off the button, even after the computer has shut down completely. Keep it there for others 60 seconds.

2. Now release the key and turn the computer back on after waiting 10 seconds.

3. If this doesn't work for you and the methods 3 Y 4 they don't work for you, try the method 5 to try to diagnose the real problem.

Method 3: Shift + F8 Power

This is another method that has worked on specific models for some users.

1. Turn off your laptop by pressing the power button.

2. Remove the battery from the laptop and press the power button again for a few 60 seconds.

3. Now reconnect the battery and hold down the Shift keys, F8 and ignition boards for others 60 seconds.

Method 4: using the power keys, function (Fn) y F5

This is one last method that you can try and see if the problem is resolved. The key method “switched on”, “fn” Y “F5” can work, especially if you have a Toshiba device. Try these steps:

1. Turn off your laptop.

2. Press the power button for a few 60 seconds.

3. Now press and hold the power keys, the function (fn) and the F5 for up to 60 seconds.

4. Repeat step 3 at least 3-4 times before stopping.

Method 5: diagnose the problem

If none of the above methods work for you, then the problem may be a bit more serious. You will have to fix your laptop problems yourself or have it checked. Try these steps to get a basic diagnosis of the problem:

1. Put your hands on an external monitor (you can buy one or borrow one if you don't have one) and connect it to your laptop.

2. Turn on your laptop and if you see the screen, then your LCD screen is faulty or the cables connecting to it are not working properly.

3. If you don't see any screen, the problem is likely with your memory or the motherboard in general. In this stage, you will have to disassemble your laptop to investigate further. You can find a tutorial specific to your laptop model and follow it through

4. Check if your RAM is installed correctly.

5. Whether the BIOS battery needs replacement or not.
