TWCU.EXE failed to load the library file

Twcu.exe, also known as TP-LINK Wireless Client Utility, is a setup application required to properly run wireless adapters. The TP-LINK wireless configuration utility is installed on the system of users using the TP-LINK adapters. Installing this utility will add a service to the Windows service list and it will run continuously in the background.

Twcu.exe is located in C: N-Program Files N-TP-LINK and is used by TP-LINK to connect to the Internet. The name of the main executable file is twcu.exe and it can be seen in the services tab of the task manager.

If you have recently updated your Windows 10 or if you have upgraded to Windows 10 from an older version of Windows, you might see an error related to TWCU or twcu.exe. When you turn on the computer, you will see an error message like this

This error will appear once you get to the desktop and it will appear every time you log into Windows.

First, this error is related to your TPlink wireless configuration utility. Almost all the users facing this error had the TPlink wireless configuration utility installed on their system.. Compatibility issues are the most likely cause of this error message, especially if you have started experiencing the problem after upgrading to Windows 10.

Method 1: run in compatibility mode

Since the most likely reason for this problem is a compatibility issue, the most logical thing is to run the TPlink Wireless Configuration Utility in compatibility mode. Here are the steps to run the configuration utility in compatibility mode.

Note: I don't have a TPlink wireless configuration utility, so i am performing these steps in a different app. I shouldn't have any problem, as these steps will be the same for the TPlink Wireless Configuration Utility.

  1. Locate the TPlink Wireless Configuration Utility. It should be on your desk.

  2. Right click on the TPlink Wireless Configuration Utility and select Properties

  1. Click on the Compatibility tab

  2. Check the Run this program in compatibility mode box to:

  1. Select Windows 8 o Windows 7 from the drop-down list

Check if this fixes the problem or not.

Method 2: Operation in compatibility mode (alternative)

This is the same method 1 but it provides an alternative way to troubleshoot compatibility issues with the TPlink Wireless Configuration Utility.

Follow the steps below to fix the compatibility issue.

  1. Locate the TPlink Wireless Configuration Utility, it should be on your desktop

  2. Right-click on the TPlink Wireless Configuration Utility and select Troubleshoot Compatibility Issues
