No matter how good the Android operating system is, is full of its own flaws. One of the most common and aggravating flaws of the Android operating system is the fact that Android apps are quite prone to being forcibly closed, thus showing the error “Unfortunately, (app name) has stopped unexpectedly”.
No application is safe from this error, not even applications like Maps that have been developed by Google itself. Maps is quite a useful application, so having to close it by force every 5 seconds of activity can be extremely troublesome.
The following are the three solutions that have been shown to work against the bug “Unfortunately, Maps has stopped”:
Solution 1: uninstall Maps app updates
Since Maps is a system application, uninstalling and reinstalling it is completely out of place. However, what a person can do is uninstall all app updates and then allow the app to rebuild from scratch.
1. Go to Settings.
2. Find and open the Device Application Manager.
3. Keep scrolling down the list until the Maps app appears. 4. Touch the Maps app.
4. Tap on Uninstall updates .
5. Confirm the action.
6. Open the Maps app and allow it to reinstall all updates.
Solution 2: free space in device RAM
Freeing up space in the RAM of an Android device can give applications more space in the device's random access memory to work, which effectively reduces the chances of an application crashing.
1. Go to the RAM manager which is present on all Android devices out of the box, although it varies from device to device.
2. Find and tap an option like Clear memory O clear RAM .
Solution 3: Clear the cache and data of the Maps app
1. Repeat the first three steps of the Solution 1.
2. Tap on Forced stop and confirm the action.
3. 3. Clear the Maps application cache by clicking the Clear cache
4. Press Delete data and then confirm the action.
5. 5. Close the Settings app and run the Maps app.
