Many users encounter the problem of receiving an error message stating that Windows did not detect any network hardware. This error occurs mainly because the network adapter driver has not been installed correctly.
People run into this problem after upgrading their version of Windows or installing a fresh copy. Windows is designed to automatically install the default drivers for all hardware, but in some cases, It is not like this. The solution is very simple; we just have to install the driver for the network adapter manually. Please note that this solution works for all versions of Windows and for both adapters (WiFi y Ethernet).
Solution: install drivers manually
First, We will try to update the adapter driver automatically when Windows searches the internet for the most effective driver and installs accordingly. If this doesn't work, we can try to update it manually.
-
Press Windows + R to start Run Type »devmgmt.msc» in the dialog box and hit Enter. This will start your computer's device manager.
-
Browse all hardware and click Network Adapters. Right click on your wireless hardware and select »Update Driver«.
-
Now Windows will open a dialog box asking you which way you want to update your driver. Select the first option (Search automatically for updated driver software) and continue.
-
After installation, restart your computer and see if the problem is solved.
If it doesn't work as expected, we can try to install the default drivers for the hardware after uninstalling it.
-
Go back to your network hardware in device manager, right click on it and select »Uninstall device«.
-
After uninstall, restart your computer again.
If you cannot update the drivers using the above two methods, you can go to the manufacturer's site and download the drivers in an accessible location. Later, follow the same steps above but select the second method (Search my computer for driver software). Find the location where you downloaded the driver and install it.
Note: If you can't find your network hardware in the category “Network adapters”, look in device manager “Other devices”. You will most likely see your network adapter labeled “Unknown Device” here. You can apply all the above methods to update it accordingly. Try to use the automatic method before moving on to the others.
