Solution 1: Repair Avast

If there is a problem with the Avast installation, since it won't open at all, it's better to just repair it by navigating to the Control Panel and using the repair wizard.   1. First, make sure you are logged in with an administrator account, as you will not be able to remove programs with any other account.

Solution 2: restart the Avast Antivirus service

Solution 3: perform a clean install

  1. Disconnect from the internet after downloading these files and boot into Safe Mode. Use the Windows key combination + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog and type »msconfig» before clicking OK.

  2. In the System Settings window, navigate to the Boot tab on the right and check the box next to Secure boot. Click OK and restart your computer to boot into Safe Mode.

  1. Run the Avast uninstall utility and find the folder where you installed Avast. If you installed it in the default folder (Program files), can leave it. Take care to choose the correct folder, as the contents of any folder you choose will be deleted or corrupted. Navigate the File Explorer until you find the correct folder.

  2. Click on the Delete option and restart the computer by starting the normal startup. Check if Avast now opens normally.
