Each Windows file has an extension that identifies it and is related to programs, as .txt for text (notepads) / .doc to (documents), etc. These extensions represent the default program that will open that particular file.
Sometimes; you may need to delete or change the file extensions; Windows Vista and Windows 7 do not offer a built-in GUI utility for clearing file type associations.
But you can easily do it with a program called “Unassoc.exe”.
Continue; follow the steps below:
1) Download and install the tool unassoc_1_4.zip
2) Extract the zip file and open the unassoc.exe file
3) You can select the extension from the list; or look for it in the file types (countryside) and later choose “Remove file association (Username)”.
4) After it has been removed; the specific file will have to be re-associated, which is easy when you open the program; the windows will present you with an option to select a program with which to open the file.
5) This program will help if the files have been incorrectly associated.
