So you have your new Moto G4 Plus and you would like it to work to install custom firmware, remove apps or just have the freedom to choose. We are going to show you how.
Before starting, let's say some facts first, this method works on phones that only have Android marshmallow, the nougat is not yet supported. To do this method, you will need to unlock your bootloader, if not unlocked, unlocking it may result in a complete wipe of your smartphone, so you need to backup all data on your phone before doing so.

First, we will need to unlock your bootloader, Motorola offers bootloader unlock codes, but first we will need some steps.
On your phone, open Settings -> About phone and click on »Build number» some 7 times, once you see a message from the developer, press Back and go to Developer Options, check the options »Allow OEM unlocking» and »USB debugging» AND »Android debugging«.
Now you need to install minimal fastboot and ADB on your laptop, you can find it in this link.
After downloading it, follow the instructions of the installer and create a shortcut on the desktop, open that shortcut and you will see a command line.Now go to your phone and boot it into bootloader by turning it off and holding the power button + volume down buttons. Connect the phone to the laptop using your USB cable and in the command line type “adb devices” if your phone appears, if it doesn't appear, then you should try to install motorola drivers from here .
Then write “mfastboot oem get_unlock_data”, you will see a string of random characters preceded by a “(bootloader)”, copy the random characters and paste them into a notepad, make sure they are on a single chain, without him (bootloader) or the blanks. Then, head to motorola website here, Click Next, log in to your motorla account, copy the random string and paste it into “Can my device be unlocked?” text bar, then press Request unlock key, in a few minutes or less it should reach your email.
Once i do, go back to the command line and type “mfastboot oem unlock” and your phone will reboot in a few seconds.
Once this is done, install these files on your computer TWRP-custom Recovery and SuperSU, place them on your desk for ease of use, copy them to your phone and go back to your command line, with your phone still connected to the USB port ( after reboot), write this is “adb reboot-bootloader”, after it reboots, write this in “fastboot boot twrp-3”. 0.2-0-athene.img »now your phone will reboot into TWRP custom recovery, go to your phone, click Backup, select all partitions then go to backup, wait a few minutes for the backup process to complete and then save the backup to your computer.
Go back to the TWRP menu and then go to Advanced -> Terminal and then write this code
echo “NO SYSTEM = true”> /data/.supersu
Now to make sure what we did was done correctly, go back to the Advanced menu and then to the File Manager -> / data folder and make sure there is a file “.supersu”, once you make sure you go back to the main menu and go to the install menu, find the SuperSU file you copied to your phone earlier and swipe to confirm the flash. And then restart the phone, once restarted, the phone will be rooted with the SuperSU out of the box. If something goes wrong during the flash, you will have the backup you made before and you can always start TWRP and get it back.
