Restarting or formatting the PS3 will erase all settings, games and movies, as well as everything else saved on the PS3. Solution 1: default settings
In case there is an obstacle with the system settings, it may be enough to delete the current settings and revert to the default settings. To do this, open the Settings menu on your PS3 and go to System > System Settings and click on Restore Default Settings. Now check if your problem has been solved or if it still persists. Solution 2: Restore the PS3 system
If the system configuration is not the culprit, it may be something else on the PS3 system that causes the PS3 to freeze and behave abnormally. In this circumstance, it could help to restore the PS3 to its factory settings. To do this, open the Settings menu on your PS3 and navigate to System > System Settings and click on Restore PS3 System. Now check if your problem has been solved or if it still persists. If the problem has been resolved, don't forget to restore all your data. Scroll down to Restore to find out how to restore your data. If the problem persists, try the following solutions.
Solution 3: format system
As a last resort before hard reset, you can try to format the storage system of the PS3. Be careful, as mentioned previously, this will delete all your data and save the bookmarks, the configuration, etc. To format the system, open the Settings menu on your PS3 and go to System > System Settings and click on Format Utility. Now follow the onscreen instructions and choose the System Storage option if you are asked which storage needs to be formatted. Formatting the system will take a few 3 hours or more. So please be patient and do not turn off the console while formatting. Thereafter, check if your issue has been resolved or still persists. Solution 4: hard reboot
In case all other solutions have failed and your PS3 keeps acting strange, try restarting your console. This will delete all the data, including saved games, the markers, the settings and anything else. The console will reset to factory defaults. To perform a hard reset, follow the instructions below.
First, turn off your PS3 with the power switch on the back. Now press and hold the power button on the front until you hear 3 beeps that activate initial settings, to configure a new console. Perform initial setup, since it is a new console. When you are done with the initial setup, format the system with the Format Utility. To format the system, open the Settings menu on your PS3 and go to System > System Settings and click on Format Utility. Now follow the onscreen instructions and choose the System Storage option if you are asked which storage needs to be formatted. Formatting the system will take a few 3 hours or more. Restore:
After restarting the PS3, you must restore all settings and other saved data.
