The original csc.exe file is a legitimate Microsoft .NET Framework software component signed by Microsoft Corporation. CSC stands for Visual C # [ s barley] Command line C compiler.
Note: csc.exe can also be the main executable of Comodo System Cleaner. Despite this, the chances of this happening are slim as the cleaning software merged with Registry Cleaner in 2013 and became PC Tune-UP. You will only have a csc.exe executable belonging to Comodo System Cleaner if you have not updated your system in several years.
Feasible security problem?
The legitimate CSC executable is a legitimate procedure from the Microsoft .NET framework, as we have previously established. Despite this, There have been cases where nifty malware has impersonated the csc.exe procedure and shows u in the Processes tab.
To make sure this is not the case, open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and locate the csc.exe procedure in the Processes tab. Then right click on it and choose Open file location. If the revealed location is not C: Windows N-Microsoft.NET N- Framework (Framework64) N- csc.exe or C: N- Program files N- COMODO N-CSC.exe System Cleaner, you are probably dealing with a malware infection.
If you discover any other location (especially if it is outside the Windows folder), you need to make sure the infection is fatal. There are many different ways to deal with malware infections, but we suggest using Malwarebytes, since it is also good to identify adware that would not regularly be flagged by other security suites. Should I remove the legitimate csc.exe?
It is not recommended to uninstall the legitimate csc.exe, since the executable is required along with many default and third-party applications. Despite this, if you decide to get rid of it, you will have to uninstall the entire Microsoft .Net Framework package. This can be useful if the problem is due to a bad installation of the .NET Framework or corruption.
To get rid of csc.exe, open a run window (tecla de Windows + R), type »appwiz.cpl» and press Enter to open Programs and Features. Then, scroll down the application listing and uninstall all Microsoft .NET Framework entries, and then restart your computer. Once your computer restarts, WU (Windows Update) it should automatically reinstall the missing .NET Framework components.

How to correct the error “csc.exe cannot be started correctly”
If you get the error “csc.exe cannot be started correctly” at random times or when you try to shut down your computer, the following two methods can contribute. We were able to identify two possible solutions that solved the problem for users in a similar situation. Follow the two methods in order and skip the first one if it is not applicable.
Method 1: uninstall Bit Meter app
If you get the error “csc.exe cannot be started correctly” after clicking the Shutdown button, this may be due to the BitMeter app. It turns out that bandwidth meter apps can cause the CSC executable to throw this error every time Windows tries to force shutdown.
The only way to avoid this problem is to uninstall the current Bit Meter application and then visit the official web portal to download Bit Meter 2, an updated version of the same application that does not suffer from the same problem.
Here is a quick guide to fix the error “csc.exe cannot be started correctly” generated by BitMeter 2:

Press the Windows key + R to open the Run command. Scribe “appwiz.cpl” and press Enter to open Programs and Features.

Scroll through the list of applications and uninstall Bit Meter software.

Method 2: run a system file verification scan
If you didn't have the Bit Meter software installed and you keep getting the error “csc.exe cannot be started correctly”, it is possible that your system is suffering from system file corruption.
The System File Checker is a tool developed by Microsoft that will regularly repair most of the corruption cases that may be plaguing your system.. Here is a quick guide on how to start a System File Checker scan:

Click on the Windows start bar (lower left corner) and look for cmd. Right click on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.

At the elevated command prompt, type sfc / scannow. This will scan all protected system files and replace corrupted ones with clean versions.

After the scan is complete, reboot the system and check if the error “csc.exe cannot be started correctly” has been resolved in the next startup.
