Users have helped by posting the methods they have used to solve the problem successfully. Check them out below and be sure to follow the instructions carefully!!

What Causes Minecraft Server Connection Timeout Error on Windows?

There are not many different causes for this problem and they are all related to the same root: something is blocking the game's proper access to the internet. It may be the antivirus tool that you have installed on your computer, your firewall or your router.

Your antivirus tool may prevent proper access to the Internet if it does not recognize Minecraft as a genuine program.. Windows Defender Firewall is also known to block original apps from connecting to the internet, but the problem can also be in the port that is used by default. The port is 25565 and it can also be locked on the router, which means you have to resend it.

Solution 1: use a different antivirus tool

Free antivirus tools can be very useful and can do their job protecting your computer, but sometimes they don't get along with other things on your computer and make Minecraft not connect to the internet properly. Consider replacing your antivirus if it causes this problem while it's on!!

  1. Click on the start menu and open the control panel by searching for it. Alternatively, you can click gear icon to open settings if you are using windows 10.

  2. In the control panel, select View as – Category in the upper right corner and click Uninstall a program in the Programs section.

  1. If you use the Settings app, by clicking Applications, a list of all programs installed on your PC will immediately open.

  2. Find your antivirus tool in Control Panel or Settings and click Uninstall.

  3. Your uninstall wizard should open, so follow the instructions to uninstall it.

  1. Click Finish when the uninstaller completes the process and restart your computer to see if the errors continue to appear. Make sure you choose a better antivirus option. Check for the Minecraft error “Dead server connection” appears to other players when they try to connect to your server.

Solution 2: forward port 25565 on your firewall

These ports must be open on the server computer for the entire game to work properly. This must be done in Windows Firewall, so be sure to follow the steps below to allow this port to pass through and resolve the issue.

  1. Navigate to Control Panel by searching for it in the Start menu and click on System and Security >> Firewall de Windows. You can also change the view to large or small icons and click Windows Firewall instantly.

  1. Select advanced setup options and highlight Inbound Rules in the left section of the screen.

  2. Right-click Inbound Rules and click New Rule. In the Rule Type section, select Port. Select TCP or UDP in the first set of radio buttons (depending on the ports you are working on) and change the second radio button to »Specific local ports. You will need to specify the port 25565 for both TCP and UDP to fix the problem with your Minecraft server.

  3. Select the Allow connection radio button in the next window and click Next.

  1. Select the network type when you want to apply this rule. If you switch from one network connection to another frequently enough, it is recommended to keep all options enabled before clicking Next.

  2. Name the rule something that makes sense to you and click Finish. Make sure to repeat the same steps for the Outbound Rules (choose Outbound Rules in step 2). Check for the Minecraft error “Server connection time timed out” appears to other players when they try to connect to your server.

Solution 3: forward your router port

If you connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi, should make sure the port 25565 is not being used for something else on your router. To do this, you need to assign a static IP to your PC and forward the port to PC. It will take a while, but it is the best way to solve the problem if all of the above fails. Follow the steps below carefully!!

  1. Make sure to open a command prompt window by searching for »cmd» or »Command Prompt» in the Start menu.
