Error 0x80040900 means that the server name is wrong or the ports are wrong. As usual, it is difficult for a non-technical customer to quickly figure out what the correct email settings would be.
So; As a first step in this guide, call your ISP if your email is with them to ask about nameservers.
This is what you want to know:
POP server address and port / IMAP
SMTP server address and port
Are both SSL enabled?
Once you have this setup, it will look like this, in the following example I am using the Gmail POP settings:
Once you have the correct settings, go to the Properties of your Outlook account and make sure the server names, the ports and SSL settings are as provided by your ISP.
You can check your email settings at http://settings.email
As the matter is very dynamic with the configuration; I cannot provide exact details of your provider without knowing the version of Outlook and the provider.
