After updating iTunes from 12.5.3 a 12.6 (using Apple software update), a couple of Windows users 10 reported problems launching apps. Uninstalling all Apple applications from the system and reinstalling them again does not give any positive results. To fix this problem and go back to using iTunes normally, the following methods are required.
Before starting
-
Before trying the methods below, remove any SD cards that may be in your computer's card reader or any discs in the optical drive.
-
Disable your Broadcom Bluetooth app (if you are using one).
-
Run Task Manager (right click on the taskbar and select Task Manager)
-
Click on the Home tab.
-
Find the app in the Bluetooth tray.
-
Right click and choose Disable.
-
What's more, see if iTunes.exe is present in the Processes list of Task Manager and close it if it is there.
-
Now try the following methods.
Run iTunes as administrator
Note: Some users who used iTunes 12.6.1.25 they found that they had to use this procedure when launching iTunes.
-
Find the shortcut to iTunes (probably on your desk).
-
Right click on it and, on the menu, select Run as administrator.
Performing this trick can fix specific launch issues. However, if that doesn't help, try the following.
Run iTunes in safe mode
-
Hold down the Ctrl key + Shift while starting iTunes. That should open the app in safe mode.
-
After it opens, try closing it and running as usual.
This can also fix the problem, but if it was not like that, continue to the next troubleshooting method.
Additional methods
-
Remove iTunes shortcuts from your PC (Start Menu, taskbar, desk or other similar locations).
-
Repair iTunes from Windows Programs and Features control panel. (Click Start> type Programs and Features and press Enter> Find the iTunes app> Right click> Choose repair)
-
Try disconnecting your PC from the internet before starting iTunes.
-
What's more, try reinstalling iTunes while disconnected from the internet.
-
Disable any non-Microsoft antivirus software and see if it has any impact on iTunes behavior.
-
Try Apple's instructions for troubleshooting unexpected shutdowns or startup issues in iTunes for Windows. Later, test behavior on different user profiles or with a different profile (if problems only occur on your profile, some of the iTunes preference files may be deleted. That can cause the problem in iTunes).
