Microsoft Edge opens and then closes

There is no doubt that the Windows Edge browser is a huge improvement over Microsoft's previous browser., Internet Explorer. But Windows Edge is far from perfect with some bugs. General troubleshooting

Here are some general troubleshooting steps to follow before delving into the details of troubleshooting methods. These general solutions will only work if Edge opens, if it doesn't open at all, ignore them and continue with the Method 1.

Clear cache

1. Abra Microsoft Edge.

2. Click the More button (3 points) and then select Settings.

3. Click Choose what you want to clear under Clear browsing data.

4. Select Data Cache Only and click Clear.

Restart the browser

1. Hold down the Windows key and press R

2. Type control and press Enter

3. Click Network and Internet

4. Click Internet Options

5. Click on the Advanced tab

6. Click Restart

7. Restart your computer

Operational troubleshooter

Go here and click run the troubleshooter. Follow the onscreen instructions to run the troubleshooter.

Method 1: uninstall and reinstall Microsoft Edge

Note: This method will remove your Favorites or any other settings related to Microsoft Edge browser. So follow this method at your own risk. It is also recommended to make a restore point in case you want to revert the changes.

Uninstalling and then reinstalling Microsoft Edge solves the problem for almost everyone. To uninstall Microsoft Edge, you will need to rename or delete a certain Microsoft Edge folder. But that folder is hidden by default, so you need to make sure you can see hidden files and folders. To do this, follow the steps below

1. Hold down the Windows key and press E

2. Click View

3. Check the option that says hidden items

Uninstall Microsoft Edge

Now follow the below steps to uninstall Microsoft Edge

1. Restart your computer to make sure none of the Microsoft Edge files are open, as it will interfere with the uninstall process

2. Press the Windows key once

3. Type cmd in the Start Search box

4. Right-click on the cmd that appears in the search results and select Run as administrator

5. Type the command below and press Enter

Note: Replace "[Username]»By the username of your computer

1. Repeat step 6 again to make sure the folder is renamed. If the folder name is changed, you should see and give an error like Windows cannot find the specified file.

If you find errors, make sure the folder name and paths are correct. (you can get them manually, going to Packages

If you see an Access Denied error or any other error, have 2 options. Rename folders from Windows Explorer or switch to another account (administrator) and rename the folder from there. Steps for both are given below.

Windows Explorer:

1. Restart your computer

2. Hold down the Windows key and press R

3. Type the following and press:

   C:NUsuaries% username% NAppDataN-Local_PackagesN-Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe

4. Right-click the RoamingState folder and click Delete

5. Confirm if the computer asks for permission

6. Hold down the Windows key and press R

7. Type C: N-users% username% local_packages_app y presione Enter

8. Find and right click on the folder named MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe and select Rename. Also rename this folder Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe.OLD and press Enter

Account change:

Sometimes, it may be necessary to switch to a local account (from your Microsoft account) to rename the Microsoft Edge folder. This always allows you to rename the folder, but it takes longer

1. Press the Windows key once

2. Select configuration

3. Click Accounts

4. Instead, click Sign in with a local account.

5. Enter your current Microsoft account password

6. Enter your username and password.

7. Click Next

You will now log out of your Microsoft account and log into your local account. Once you have logged in, repeat the steps above to rename the Microsoft Edge folder. You can use command prompt mode or Windows Explorer mode.

Reinstalling Microsoft Edge

The above steps should uninstall Microsoft Edge from your computer. Now you can reinstall the browser by following the steps below

1. Press the Windows key once

2. Type Powershell in the Start Search box

3. Right-click on the PowerShell that appears in the search results and select Run as administrator

4. Type cd c: users[Username] and hit Enter. Replaces «[Username]»By the username of your computer. What's more, note that if your username has more than one word, write it in quotes. For example, users »John boy» ».
