Nexus Mod Manager (NMM) is free and open source software through which you can download, install, update and manage your mod files. Integrates with Nexus sites to give you a quick and much less complicated modding experience.

However, Several users are getting into a situation where they go to the site »Nexusmods» and try to download any mod file by clicking the button »Download with administrator» and it loads a bit, but Nexus Mod Manager does not download the file that was clicked.
What makes Nexus Mod Manager not download?
We investigated this particular issue by examining various user reports and the repair strategies that were used to resolve this particular issue. Based on what we collect, there are some common reasons that are known to cause this problem to users:
-
Nexus Mod Manager configuration error: most of the problems are due to the Administrator settings. This error occurs because the admin is not associated with the nxm urls and cannot accept any of the links in the download files.
-
Browser settings: the second reason this can happen is due to the browser settings for nxm. An option for nxm should not be selected or selected incorrectly because the admin cannot download any of the mod files.
Now that you know what is causing this problem, let's move on to the methods that will help you solve it.
Method 1: association with NXM URL:
This method focuses on Nexus Mod Manager settings, where you will find the option to associate with nxm urls. Sometimes, this particular option will be the fault of the problem and will not allow the admin to communicate with the nexus urls you are trying to download. Then, to solve this, follow these steps:
-
Open »Nexus Mod Manager» by double clicking on the shortcut and go to »Settings«
-
In the General tab at the top, you will see »Associate with NXM URL«
-
If it's gray, close the Nexus Mod Manager
If the option is gray and you cannot click, close the manager
-
Right-click on the NMM shortcut icon and select »Run as administrator«
-
Go back to the »« settings and uncheck the option »Associate with NXM URL» (if it is already checked)
-
Close the settings, then reopen settings and check the box again
uncheck the one associated with NXM urls and then check it again
-
Test if you can now download via NMM
Method 2: check NXM preferences in Firefox
In this method, we will check Firefox browser settings related to Nexus mod manager. Nxm may be associated with the wrong app or not selected in your settings. Changing the nxm settings will solve this problem of not being able to get downloads to the administrator from the website. The steps to verify and correct this option are:

Method 3: use the vortex (an alternative)
If the Nexus Mod Manager still doesn't work, so switching to Vortex can be helpful to download the mods. Vortex is the good middle ground between Nexus Mod Manager (NMM) y Mod Organizer (MO). It has some features that are better and not available in others. Vortex has moved from alpha to beta testing and is now available with a full version.

I'm NMM, if you install two mods, you won't get any indication which one was set to override the other, which will create a conflict. In the case of Vortex, will inform you about the existence of a file and its conflict in your upload order. It also provides the ability to change the settings in which the mod should win the conflict by going last, without the need to reinstall it, and the program informs you about the presence of a file conflict in its load order.
SUGGESTION: If none of the methods have solved your problem, we recommend that you use the Reimage repair tool, which can scan repositories to replace damaged and lost files. This works in most cases, when the problem originates due to a system corruption. Reimage will also optimize your system for maximum performance. You can download Reimage by clicking here
If the option is gray and you cannot click, close the manager
