Skype, as we already know, is a software that can be used for voice conversations, video and text. Go here and download Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (x64). Once the file is downloaded, run it and follow the onscreen instructions.
Now, go here and download Windows update KB2999226 7 (x64). Run the file once you are done.
Go here and download Visual Studio C ++ 2015 Redistributable Update 3 (x86). Even if you already have the Redistributable installed on your computer, download and run it. If not installed, just install it, otherwise it will give you the option to repair the copy already installed. Select repair in that case.
Once all this is done, reinstall Skype and see if the problem persists.
Method 2: use an older version of Skype
The requirement for this dll is only in the latest version of Skype. Then, if you still cannot solve the problem or for some reason you cannot download the files provided in the method 1, try the links provided below. Just download Skype from the links and install it by following the on-screen instructions. There are older versions of Skype that did not have these MSVCP140 dll requirements, so they won't cause this problem.
Old versions of Skype
If you still see the same error or some other missing file error with older versions of Skype, then you need to download Visual Studio C ++ 2015 Redistributable Update 3. Go here and download it for your version of Windows. Once downloaded, run setup and you are good to go.
Method 3: download files manually
Note: This method is dangerous and will not work on all operating systems, so follow this method at your own risk.
Since the error tells you that a file is missing, you can always download the specific file to solve this problem.
Ir here and download the MSVCP140 dll. Now go here and download the vcruntime140 dll. Once the download is complete, follow the steps below.

Find the downloaded MSVCP140 dll file (probably in the download folder)

Right click on the file and select copy

Type C: N-ProgramFilesN-SkypeN-Phone in the address bar (located in the top center) from the file explorer and press Enter

If Windows gives an error that it cannot find the path, type C: ProgramFiles (x86) SkypePhone and press Enter

Right click anywhere in the window and select paste

Repeat this process for the vcruntime140 dll file as well.
Now try running Skype again and see if you see the same error or if the problem is resolved.
If the problem is not resolved and Skype gives a new error like “api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll is missing from your computer”, then go here and download this zip file. Once downloaded, right click on the file and select “extract”. Select location C: N-Program FilesN-SkypeN-Phone o C: N-Program Files (x86) N-SkypeN-Phone (depending on where you copied the MSVCP140 dll file) to extract its content. Run Skype again and it should work fine.
