Users experience the error message »Windows could not connect to the ProvSvc service» when they try to log into their computers at the login screen. This error message mainly means that Windows cannot connect to the profile service that is responsible for logging into the computer..

This error message is not common and in most cases only occurs when your profile is corrupted or system files are missing. There are no solutions “fast” for this error and if normal techniques don't work, we must perform a system restore or a clean install.
What causes the error message “Windows could not connect to the ProfSvc service”?
As mentioned earlier, this error message only appears if Windows cannot connect to the profile service, what prevents you from logging in. These are some of the reasons why this happens:
-
System files: system files may be corrupted or a module may be missing. This restricts the loading of the profile.
-
Damaged profile: Profiles get corrupted all the time in Windows OS. Your profile is probably corrupted and that is why you cannot log in.
In this solution, we will try to get you back to your computer using the default administrator account. If this doesn't work, we will restore your system to an earlier point.
Solution 1: enable built-in manager
All windows have a built-in manager that, mostly, is disabled on the computer. You are there to tackle problems like these. We will activate the administrator account and try to create a new user profile for you. Once the profile is created, you can easily transfer the data to the profile.
-
Insert a bootable media with a copy of Windows in your system and click Repair your computer present at the bottom left of the screen. If you don't have a bootable CD drive, you can enter Safe Mode with a command prompt and perform the steps from there.

-
Once in the recovery environment, click Troubleshoot> Advanced Options> Symbol of the system.

-
Once on the command line, run the following command:
network user manager / active:and

-
Restart your computer and choose to enter the administrative account instead. Now you need to create a new user profile and transfer all your existing files from the other profile using Windows Explorer. Feel free to delete the damaged account when you are done transferring the data.
Solution 2: perform a system restore
If you can't enable the built-in manager or have trouble creating a new account on your computer, you can perform a system restore. System restore reverts Windows to an earlier point when some important event occurred (for example, Windows Update instalado). The restore mechanism automatically creates backups, periodically or occasionally, every time a new update is installed.
-
Insert a bootable media in your PC and boot from it (you can learn how to create bootable media in our article “How to create a bootable DVD or USB”. This or you can try to enter the recovery environment directly on your computer and go to step 3.
-
Now select »Repair your computer» which will be present when you insert the media and boot from it.
-
Now click on Troubleshooting> System restore options

-
You will now be given options to select the restore point. Select it where you think your system worked fine and save the changes.
Solution 3: install new windows
If none of the above methods work, you can go ahead and install a fresh copy of Windows on your computer. We have already exhausted the possibilities of accessing the system through the restore point and making a new administrator account.

See our article on how to install Windows 10 On your computer. You can easily create a bootable Windows with Rufus or with the Windows Media Creation Tool. Please note that when
