▷ How to fix error code 1603 the Java

There are many Java based applications that are installed on our systems. We must keep Java technology up-to-date so that our applications work at their best. Most of these programs automatically check for Java updates and download them on your behalf or ask for your permission depending on your settings.. However, sometimes you may see an error code: 1603 when installing these java updates. This error code is displayed when a fatal error occurs during installation. The error will appear with a message saying to close the applications that use Java and will give you the name of these applications in a list.

The error is due, as the error message tells you, to a Java-based application running in the background. The Java update will not install if a Java-based program is running. Then, closing the app will solve the problem. However, if the mentioned application during the error does not run in the background, your attention should focus on the other causes. There are a couple of things that can be the root of this problem.

The first is that the application you are trying to install is already installed. This is, of course, for people who are installing Java and not updating. The problem can also be because you don't have the proper or sufficient permissions. By last, the error can also occur if the installation folder is encrypted.

Since there are some things that can cause the problem, there are many methods that may work for you. Therefore, go over each of them until the problem is resolved.

1. Restart your computer and try again. Sometimes, these problems are solved with a reboot.

2. Make sure you have administrator privileges. Run the installer by right clicking and selecting Run as administrator.

3. Make sure the drive you are trying to install it on is not encrypted.

4. If you have BitLocker enabled, turn it off and try to install it again.

Method 1: close the app

The first thing to do is try to close the program that the error message mentions. The easiest way to see if the program is running or not is to check the task manager.

Here are the steps to find and close the Java based program.

1. Hold down CTRL, SHIFT and ESC simultaneously (CTRL + SHIFT + ESC)

2. This will open the Task Manager.

3. Check the process list and see if the program mentioned with the error is running. If you watch that specific show, select the application and select End task (Lower right corner).

This should solve the problem.. Once this is done, try to install / update java again and it should work fine.

Note: If you can't see the program in the task manager, try to install / update Java by keeping task manager open. It's a bit strange, but many users have installed / updated Java successfully simply by keeping Task Manager open.

Method 2: Get rid of LogMeIn

If you are a network administrator trying to install Java via remote access through LogMeIn, so that may be the problem. LogMeIn will raise this error even if everything is fine. Many of the users, especially network administrators, have solved the problem by getting rid of LogMeIn.

Then, try to access the machine directly or use RDP or something else for remote access and installation. The thing is, you don't use LogMeIn for the installation task.

Note: If you really have to use LogMeIn, there is also a solution. Use LogMeIn to start the update / java installation. Disconnect LogMeIn as soon as the installation begins / java update. The installation process will continue (hopefully). Later, reconnect after a few minutes when the installation is complete. This is not a solution, but a trick that has worked for some people. Then, if you really have to use LogMeIn, try it.

Method 3: use java control panel

Unchecking and checking the Enable Java content in browser option has solved the problem for a ton of users. This option is available in the Java Control Panel, accessible through the control panel. Therefore, follow the instructions below to change this setting.

1. Hold down the Windows key and press R

2. Type control panel and press Enter

1. You should be able to see Java in this window. Click Java

2. Uncheck the Enable Java content in browser option.

Now try to install Java again. It should work perfectly.

Method 4: uninstall older versions

Since the problem may be due to an already installed version, you should try to uninstall previously installed Java versions. One of the reasons for this problem is that “the program you are trying to install is already installed”. Therefore, check the list of installed programs and uninstall Java if you find it in the list.

1. Hold down the Windows key and press R

2. Type appwiz.cpl and hit Enter

1. Search the list and find Java or JDK in this list. Yes and Java, select it and click Uninstall.

1. Uninstall versions of 64 Y 32 bits.

2. Reboot the system

Once this is done, try the installation process again and see if the problem persists.

Method 5: use offline installer

In some cases, the error may be due to the update / installation cannot be done correctly. Then we can use the offline Java installer to update it. For it:

1. before continuing, using the above method, uninstall all java components.

2. Download the offline installer from here. Pressing the download button

3. Restart your computer and run the installer.

4. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.

5. Check if the problem persists.
   Note: If this doesn't work, repeat the process again, but while selecting the install location, select the desktop and install it in a new folder on the desktop. You can add it to the route later, but this fixes the problem for some people. What's more, you can try download java from here and install it in the same way.

Method 6: install the service pack

In certain cases, users experienced that if they were on a pre-service pack operating system 1, they couldn't get java and some other apps to work properly. Operating systems like Windows XP and Windows Vista are certainly very out of date now and with many newer versions of Windows available, it seems pointless to continue using them.
